As the academic year comes to a close, WashU awards the next chapter of graduates and celebrates their achievements. This is also a time to celebrate employees who dedicate their time and effort to helping the university achieve success. Attend the awards and activities that honor you for your contributions. Staff Day Service Awards
10 a.m., Edison Theatre
Danforth Staff Day Service Awards are presented to staff for consecutive years of service. Awards are made beginning with 10 years of continuous service and every five years thereafter. The Gloria S. White Distinguished Service Award will be awarded to a staff member for exceptional efforts and contributions to Washington University. Celebrate the work and achievements of Washington University staff.

11:30 a.m., Bowles Plaza
Lunch will be served in Bowles Plaza. Enjoy the meal with colleagues and listen to live music!

New! Explore WashU – Past, Present and Future
A look into the Future of WashU – East End Transformation
12:45 p.m., Olin School of Business, Bauer Hall, Frick Forum
Learn about the future of Washington University. The East End Transformation is setting the course for the next era of our university. This innovative project helps us continue to create a sense of community, an inclusive and welcoming environment, and a unique infrastructure for learning, working and visiting campus. Discover the future of the university through a presentation by JD Long, associate vice chancellor for facilities planning & management, and James Kolker, associate vice chancellor and university architect, an exhibit of the East End Transformation, as well as a selfie station! Celebrate WashU with your colleagues during this transformation.
1:30 p.m. – Choose your journey through WashU, Tours from Past, Present to Future
After the East End Transformation presentation, take a tour of the university from past to future. Discover the vibrant WashU campus through a new lens and learn more about where you work. All tours leave from the Frick Forum following the East End Transformation presentation. Choose from tours that focus on the history of the university; highlight the present campus; or look into the future.
- History Tour with Jim Burmeister
Have you ever wondered about the history of the university and its many noteworthy buildings? Led by Jim Burmeister, this popular tour will take you to many points of interest around campus.
- Sustainability Tour with Phil Valko
The tour will begin with a brief overview of the East End project and then move to Hillman Hall. At Hillman the tour will examine the rooftop solar installation and other design features such as the sustainable landscape comprised of largely native species. During the walk other topics such as rain gardens, green roofs, and pervious pavers will be discussed. The tour will last approximately 40 minutes.
- WashU Scavenger Hunt
Go on a scavenger hunt through campus. Answer questions related to historical spots and highlighted locations at WashU. Get to know campus in an engaging way and win a prize!

This exhibit examines the local civil rights movement and the city’s leading role in advancing the cause of racial justice. Join your colleagues and explore history. More details on transportation coming soon. RSVP to the event.
