Letter from the Chair
Dear colleagues and friends,
I hope all enjoyed a happy Thanksgiving filled with great food and good times with family and friends! In this season of reflection and gratitude, I am thankful for the many accomplishments in the department and happy to share them with you.
Recruitment is at full force! We are in the midst of resident recruitment and matched a wonderful new group of fellows. Our residents did extremely well, matching into top fellowship programs here and across the country. Many thanks for your efforts interviewing residents and fellows and sharing the incredible training we provide here in the Department of Medicine.
We’ve recruited several new division leaders including:
- Daniel C. Link, MD, the new Chief of the Division of Oncology and Deputy Director of the Siteman Cancer Center
- Ramaswamy Govindan, MD, appointed as Associate Chief of the Division of Oncology
- Janet S. Lee, MD, the new Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine
We created a new name for our diversity programs. The Office is now known as Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Allyship and Social Justice (IDEAS) at Department of Medicine. This new name change better reflects our core values and encompasses all of the ongoing and new efforts in Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, along with our commitment to Allyship and Social Justice throughout the department. Stay tuned for more exciting programming to come from IDEAS at DOM in 2023.
We finished our five year wet lab strategic plan to address the significant research growth across the Department of Medicine. The inpatients and outpatient services are extremely busy. We continue to deliver outstanding clinical care, innovative research, and education. For these reasons and for so many more, there is indeed so much to be thankful for as we look ahead to 2023.
As always, thank you for your support of the Department of Medicine.
Best Regards,
Vicky Fraser, MD, Adolphus Busch Professor of Medicine, Chair, Department of Medicine
